How to dump/load/scp a directory from an remote server to another server

1. download rsvndump
http://rsvndump.sourceforge.net/

2. rsvndump http://svn.example.server > rsvnbackup.bak

(continue from step 4. of the last post)

Dumping, Compressing,Transferring, and Loading directories from one SVN server to another through your computer.

1. sign in to SVN server.
ssh exampleserver@whereurfilesatblahblah.0

2. svnadmin dump /var/svn/>svnbackup.bak

3. (optional) compress the file using tgz
*check file size using: ls -l
tar cvzf stuff.tgz*.bak              to unzip/untar: tar xvzf stuff.tgz

4. exit back to the computer your at
then: scp exampleserver@whereurfilesatblahblah.0:/vars/svn ./ stuff.tgz

Now your file is on your computer in your home folder (hopefully)

5. scp stuff.tgz ec2-user@thebrandnewbetterserver.12: stuff.tgz

6. Login to the new server: ssh ec2-user@thebrandnewbetterserver.12 (then untar/zip if its a .tgz)

7. sudo svnadmin load /var/somepath/newdirectory svnbackup.bak

8. done (hooray!)
